HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014!!!

New Year is the time at which a new calendar year begins and the calendar's year count is incremented. In many cultures, the event is celebrated in some manner.[1] The New Year of the Gregorian calendar, today in worldwide use, falls on 1 January.

It is the time when we celebrate and welcome the new year with a new hope and better opportunities for us with our family members, keeping in mind the flashback of the past year.

On this day, many people remember last year’s achievements and failures and look forward to the promise of a new year, of a new beginning. But this celebration and reflection is the result of more than an accident of the calendar.
New Year’s Day is the most active-minded holiday, because it is the one where people evaluate their lives and plan and resolve to take action.

On New Year’s Day many people accept, often more implicitly than explicitly, that happiness comes from the achievement of values. That is why you resolve to be healthier, more ambitious, more confident. You want to enjoy that sense of purpose, accomplishment and pleasure that one feels when achieving values. It is happiness that is the motor and purpose of one’s life.

It is New Year’s, more than any other day, that makes the attainment of happiness more real and possible. This is the meaning of New Year’s Day and why it is so psychologically important and significant to people throughout the world.

With this spirit,we welcome the new year 2014 and pledge to do a lot more for the ones who need us more!

Happy New Year to each and every member of Raahat Team!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS !

"I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow pas-sengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys." —Charles Dickens (1812–1870)

Christmas is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ celebrated on December 25.A feast central to the Christian liturgical year, it closes the Advent season and initiates the twelve days of Christmastide, which ends after the twelfth night.

Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift giving, Christmas music and caroling, an exchange of Christmas cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various Christmas decorations, including Christmas trees, Christmas lights, nativity scenes, garlands, wreaths, mistletoe, and holly.

“The Twelve Days of Christmas” celebrates the official Christmas season which starts liturgically on Christmas Day and ends twelve days later on the Feast of the Epiphany. “My true love” refers to God, “me” is the individual Catholic. The “twelve lords a leaping” are the twelve basic beliefs of the Catholic Church as outlined in the Apostles Creed. The “eleven pipers piping” are the eleven Apostles who remained faithful after the treachery of Judas. The “ten ladies dancing” are the Ten Commandments. The “nine drummers drumming” are the nine choirs of angels which in those days of class distinction were thought important. The “eight maids a milking” are the Eight Beatitudes. The “seven swans a swimming” are the Seven Sacraments. The “six geese a laying” are the Six Commandments of the Church or the six days of creation. The “five golden rings” are the first five books of the Old Testament called the Torah which are generally considered the most sacred and important of all the Old Testament. The “four calling birds” are the Four Gospels. The “three French hens” are the Three Persons in God or the three gifts of the Wise Men. The “two turtle doves” represent the two natures in Jesus: human and divine or the two Testaments, Old and New. The “partridge” is the piece de resistance, Jesus himself, and the “pear tree” is the Cross.

The true meaning of Christmas is to cheer people up during a cold and depressing time of year. That means lots of food, getting together with family and friends, giving each other gifts, being kind to others, and helping those in need.

As we celebrate the birth of our Savior, let’s be human & kind enough to remember & show some love to those who are not fortunate enough to be actively involved in the celebration of the birth of our lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EACH AND EVERY MEMBER OF Raahat TEAM!!!

Voting isn’t just important to Democracy. Voting is Democracy.

You can’t have a successfully run democratic system without the support and votes of the citizens. The definition of a democracy even has voting in it. A democracy is a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections. That is what our fore fathers envisioned for our country.

Voting gives the ability for people to express their opinions about the government. The power lies in our hands when we vote. We are given a really great opportunity that many people don’t take advantage of. We are given the opportunity to change what we don’t like and bring about something you do like. Every vote reassures our democracy and makes it stronger. We can’t allow for it to weaken and disintegrate.

Democracy is not possible without the peoples’ vote. It is has been important since our government was founded and it always will be, as long as people do their duty by taking part in the single and easy process of registering to vote and voting.

So please do vote so that a leader is elected who does takes care of the welfare of the people!!

Diwali or the "festival of lights",is one of the most important & brightest festivals of the year, is a five-day Hindu festival.

The name "Diwali" or "Divali" is a contraction of deepavali which translates into "row of lamps". Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. These lamps are kept on during the night and one's house is cleaned, both done in order to make the goddess Lakshmi feel welcome.Firecrackers are burst because it is believed that it drives away evil spirits.

The festival starts with Dhanteras on which most Indian business communities begin their financial year. The second day of the festival is called the Naraka Chaturdasi. Amavasya, the third day of Diwali, marks the worship of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. The fourth day of Diwali is known as Kartika Shudda Padyami. The fifth day is referred to as Yama Dvitiya, and on this day sisters invite their brothers to their homes.

The illumination of homes with lights and the skies with firecrackers is an expression of obeisance to the heavens for the attainment of health, wealth, knowledge, peace and prosperity.

The burning of the lamp indicates quest of knowledge, the desire to know the unknown. It is believed- that like constant burning of diya, the utter devotion of devotee towards God will ultimately lead to illumination. So in this life one can take the opportunity and realize real self.

Diwali signifies the triumph of good over evil, of righteousness over treachery, of truth over falsehood, and of light over darkness.

With this spirit of Deepavali,we take the pledge to stand for our motto of Raahat to help and reach out to underprivileged children and other weaker sections of the society and brighten their lives with a "Diya" of hope with our constant efforts.

A very Happy & Prosperous Diwali to each and every member of Raahat team!!!

Eid Al Adha is the annual Islamic festival that coincides with the culmination of Haj – the annual pilgrimage to Makkah. It commemorates the zenith of sacrificial spirit demonstrated by Prophet Ebrahim when he willingly offered to sacrifice his son Prophet Esmail upon Allah’s injunction.

“The word ‘Adha’ means sacrifice in Arabic, and in Islam it signifies the sacrifice offered by Allah’s beloved Prophet Ebrahim who was put on a series of trials by Allah.

The symbolic practice of sacrificing animals has stayed ever since and will be continued until the end of the world as a reminder and an example for all believers to follow in the footsteps of Prophet Ebrahim. This act signifies that when necessary, believers have to give even their most beloved objects in the way of Allah.

Islam tries to inculcate among its followers the willingness to sacrifice anything in the way of Allah."

With this spirit of sacrifice,we promise to spread the message of Raahat to more and more people for the welfare of the children and help them to lead a better life.

EID MUBARAK TO ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE Raahat Team!!

The festival of Dussehra signifies the victory of good over evil. The mythological stories associated with Dussehra cite the importance of curbing our greed and destroying the evil intentions.

Whether it is the story of Lord Ram killing the demon King Ravan or Goddess Durga's victory over Mahishasura- the essence is the same. We often draw inferences from ancient treaties to conduct our life. Keeping up with the tradition of imbibing values from our ancient culture, we at Raahat take pledge to support the children and do whatever it takes to bring smile and happiness to their faces.Improve on our strategies to reach out to more children and spread the message to more and more people to become a part of this organisation and join us in the welfare of these kids!

HAPPY DUSSEHRA TO ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE Raahat Team!!
